Croatia – Ugljan

Ugljan, also known as the olive island, was a spontaneous choice of excursion since the national parks were flooded. But this trip was the best part of my stay in Zadar.

Ugljan and Sv. Mihovil

After a boat trip of about 30 minutes, I arrived on Ugljan. I strolled away to the tourist information and rented a bike. I then fought my way of constant up hill for about an hour on a bike not meant for these types of work. But finally I arrived. I was at the highest point of the island at the old and abandoned fortress of St. Michael(Sv. Mihovil).

What an award! The weather was perfect and clear, the view was simply amazing. I could see as far as to the horizon in 360 degrees. And also, I had the place to myself!

It was so worth the sweat. I think that the effort it took getting up there made it even better. It would simply not be the same if you would be to go up there by car or a moped. If you are there – do it by bike or walk up.
